According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network’s recent report, at least one in every 68 children in the US has been diagnosed with autism, and this number continues to grow every year. With this in mind, the need for quality education for young adults with autism and other disabilities is even more necessary than it has been in previous years. Marino Campus is committed to educating these dynamic individuals by providing them with state-of-the-art learning facilities to help them learn, grow, and excel after they complete high school.
Marino Campus is a post-secondary school for individuals, 18 to 28 years old, with autism and other developmental disabilities, who want to further their education after high school. Our mission is to help individuals launch a successful career.
How do we prepare the students?
Individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities thrive in a nurturing and creative learning environment where their individual needs are met. At Marino Campus, we strive to teach our students the practicalities of everyday living. By providing them with specialized training, our technology-embedded modules include the Virtual Interactive Training Agent (ViTA). ViTA is a job-interviewing tool crafted specifically for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developmental disabilities. It uses virtual technology to immerse the user in a variety of job interview environments where they interact with a diverse set of custom-designed virtual humans.
We work diligently to prepare them for their future so they can face life’s adventures head-on with confidence and vigor.
Our instructors provide each student with better communication and coping skills to enhance their personalities holistically. We provide career counseling and have specially designed courses that are taught by experts. We also provide behavior specialists, peer and academic mentors, and tutors to guide, educate, and enhance confidence in our students. Students also receive individualized instruction through person-centered planning.
How can students utilize their education post-completion of school?
Once students complete the required coursework, they are eligible for internships with corporate partners. Each partner provides them with real-life experiences and exposure to our students, depending on their chosen field of study. To further enhance the internship experience, we offer counseling sessions which place graduates in jobs and services that suit their individual training and compatibility. We also mentor our graduates and walk them through a one-on-one interview to further boost their confidence and prepare them for real-life interview situations.
