Shortly after their second son, Michael, is diagnosed with Autism, Dan & Claire establish The Dan Marino Foundation.
The DMF partners with Miami Children's Hospital to create the Dan Marino Center, offering a wide array of therapeutic services for kids with ASD under one roof.
In response to a tragic number of drownings in the State of Florida of children with special needs, the Foundation created the Marino Adaptive Aquatics Certification Program
The Marino Autism Research Institute, or MARI, is formed to advance quality-of-life research issues. MARI partners include: Vanderbilt, the University of Miami and USC.
Disability employment programs, like Step into Employment (STEPS) become central to the mission of the DMF.
Marino Campus, a post-secondary school for young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities is founded. Marino Campus provides a critical bridge to employment.
The DMF releases ViTA DMF software & curriculum. ViTA DMF uses virtual reality to immerse young adults with disabilities in a job interview environment. Google awarded Foundation with a prestigious Google Grant to enhance further development of the software.
Marino Campus expands to the FIU Campus in Miami.
