Unlocking Potential

What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) encompasses a wide range of differences in brain development, influencing how individuals perceive and interact with the world. Some people with autism may have strengths in areas like creativity, problem-solving, or attention to detail, and may face challenges related to communication, social interaction, or adapting to change. Each personโ€™s experience is unique.

At The Dan Marino Foundation, we recognize the individuality of every person with autism and are dedicated to providing the resources and support needed to help navigate both their strengths and challenges, fostering personal growth, professional development, and community inclusion.

OUR STORIES

Before I came to Marino Campus, I was completely lost and didn’t know what to do with my life. At the Campus, I learned that everything I thought I knew about my disability was completely wrong. I gained confidence, became more articulate, and found that I am able to work just like a person without my disability.

Andres, Alumni

JC was home alone when I went to work, and it was breaking my heart. I was sad for me to think, “Is this how it’s going to be for my son?” The campus was just what he needed.

Fundamentally, one of the things that we’re all supposed to do is to give back to others, especially to causes and organizations you believe in. The Dan Marino Foundation’s mission closely aligns with my personal beliefs to help others help themselves. Although the Foundation has evolved greatly through the years, the mission has remained the same…opening doors and having a positive impact on the lives of those with developmental disabilities. With the opening of the Marino Campus in 2013, we have been able to greatly expand our reach. Leadership has done an outstanding job in creating programs and developing tools to prepare young adults to enter the workforce and teach them life skills. Marino Campus has changed the mindset of what individuals with developmental disabilities can accomplish

Inspiring, mentoring, and enabling youth to reach their full potential is at the heart of everything we do and Dan Marino Foundation is doing incredible work in the Fort Lauderdale community that embodies that mission. We have seen the direct, life-changing impact this incredible organization has on its students and we couldn’t be more honored to partner with them.

Brian , President Emeril Lagasse Foundation

We are pleased to support the Dan Marino Foundation’s ground-breaking work. Through our shared commitment, we are inspiring the world to embrace autism acceptance and inclusion.

Before Marino Campus, I struggled to find a program I could be successful in and gain my independence. A therapist told my parents to give up on me and that I wouldn’t amount to anything in my life. I was at my lowest point, when my mother found out about the Campus. It turned my life around. I received certifications as a Microsoft Office Specialist and A+ and improved my social communication. I found a career path I can be successful in. The Campus made me believe I can do anything I put my mind to.

Josh, Alumni

I can’t believe he took two buses to get to the campus and loved doing it. He’s so happy. He didn’t smile all that much and now he smiles a lot. People think that someone like Harry can’t change; this is the way they are always going to be. His experience at the campus proved that they can always learn more.

Evelyn, Marino Campus Alumni Grandmother

As an instructor, at the beginning of a school year we often see students come in eager to learn and do a good, but many come with inexperience and limited exposure to work environments. It is a great feeling to see students turn into superstars right in front of your eyes, especially during the internship experience. All our students really need is an opportunity. Once you do that for them it changes not only their life but yours as well. You realize you have the possibility of changing the world, one student at a time.

Ezequiel, Instructor

Your gifts should not be a limitation, they are a special part of you. I use to think otherwise until I came to Marino Campus. Itโ€™s something you should own, it makes you who you are.
